Foreign-born general vs. prison populations

Anglophone countries typically have higher native-born prisoner to foreign-born prisoner populations than other countries

Foreign-born prisoner share and population share display percentages of each population that were born in another country, regardless of their current immigration status. Prison population data is from the Institute for Crime & Justice Policy Research, from 2023 to 2026, depending on what was most-recently available in each country. Foreign-born population share data is from OECD and mostly from 2024, except for New Zealand and the U.K., where the most-recently available data was from 2023 and 2022, respectively.
