Hank Aaron and Willie Mays played during the same era, and while both were great home run hitters, Aaron was more consistent over time, with at least 20 home runs over 20 seasons and eight seasons with at least 40 home runs. Mays hit 95 fewer career home runs than Aaron with 660, but he eclipsed Aaron's season home run total three times. And Aaron never reached 50 home runs in a single season while Mays did twice. Mays is currently ranked sixth among career home run leaders, far behind Aaron, who stands second with 755 home runs.
