How North Texas' doctor gap will widen as demand grows

North Texas doesn't have enough doctors. Demand in the area is projected to grow by 29% from 2022 to 2036.

While the number of physicians is expected to increase by 31% in that time, it's not enough to catch up. State estimates show the region will be short about 3,700 doctors then. But demand is expected to remain high — rising 29%, from 21,694 to 27,947.
