How badly has COVID-19 hurt local community colleges?

COVID-19 forced an economic downturn, a time when community colleges typically see their enrollment grow. That hasn't happened this time around. Most of San Diego County's community colleges report serving fewer students than they did before the pandemic — some of them reporting double-digit percentage drops, in line with statewide numbers.

Enrollment declines were calculated using each college's headcount for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years.
