Percentage of N.J. drug overdose deaths by race, 2015-2021

Drug-related deaths have surged in recent years among Blacks, who make up 12% of the state's population. They are now more likely to overdose than whites, who traditionally were the most impacted by the opioid epidemic and who represent 52% of the population.

2021's figures are through Oct. 15.
