Confidence in the U.S. Supreme Court, Recent Trend, by Political Party
Now I am going to read you a list of institutions in American society. Please tell me how much confidence you, yourself, have in each one -- a great deal, quite a lot, some or very little. The U.S. Supreme Court (% Great deal/Quite a lot)
Line graph. Trend in confidence in the U.S. Supreme Court by political party. Thirteen percent of Democrats have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in the Supreme Court, down from 30% in 2021 and the recent high of 42% in 2016. Twenty-five percent of independents have a great deal of confidence in the Supreme Court, down from 40% in 2020, which was the recent high for this group. Thirty-nine percent of Republicans have confidence in the Supreme Court, unchanged from a year ago but down from the recent high of 53% in 2020.
