Presidential Pardons Granted

President Donald Trump's Day 1 pardons on Jan. 20 sent him toward the top of the list. How does he rank among other modern day presidents?

*The number of pardons granted during the start of Donald Trump's second term are approximate as of Jan. 23, 2025. President Gerald Ford's total pardons excludes pardons issued on Sept. 7, 1974 for some "draft evaders and military deserters" during the Vietnam War provided that they needed to work in a public service job. President Jimmy Carter's total pardons excludes those pardoned on January 21, 1977. President when he issued a blanket pardon to anyone accused or convicted of violating the Military Selective Service Act during the Vietnam War draft. The total number of people pardoned by Carter and Ford cannot be accurately quantified.
