Vehicle theft by province, major city in 2024

The total number of vehicle thefts across Canada reached 46,999 last year, a 18 per cent decrease from the 2024 total of 57,359. Despite these figures having shrunk nationally, new research shows that fewer stolen vehicles are being recovered in Alberta.

Due to not every province or major municipality having released its 2025 data as of April 2026, this graph has ensured accurate comparison by using only the 2024 numbers for each respective region.
