State tax revenue by source, Minnesota compared to nine states without individual income tax for 2021 calendar year

* "Other" taxes includes severance taxes—a tax on the extraction of non-renewable natural resources intended for consumption in another state— which is a major source of tax income for Alaska (50%) and Wyoming (25%). While New Hampshire doesn't tax earned income, it currently imposes a tax on income from interest and dividends. Due to recent legislation this tax will begin to be phased out in 2022 and repealed after 2026.
