Availability of household air conditioning

About 90% of households in the San Joaquin Valley have some form of air conditioning to help them cope with summer heat. But about 10% of homes have neither air conditioning nor evaporative or "swamp" coopers to provide relief. Zoom in or out and click a Census tract on the map for details.

Only a weak correlation exists between availability of air conditioning and poverty, but poverty may impact the ability of a household to afford electricity to run an air conditioner or cooler.
