Automatic = All plans/classes in the state are all automatic COLAs (though there might be varying COLA rules by hire date). | Ad Hoc = All plans/classes only get COLAs on an ad hoc basis. | Mixed = There is variation in the rules for how COLAs are granted among various classes of benefits in the state (for example, Ohio teachers have a suspended COLA, but public school employee retirees do not). | None = All plans/classes in the state do not have access to a COLA. Suspended = All plans/classes have a COLA policy, but it is currently suspended.
