Paraquat is an herbicide banned in over 50 countries globally due to its toxicity, but still widely used in the United States. It is used to control weeds, especially in no-till farming. According to the EPA, paraquat use increased following the emergence of glyphosate-resistant weeds, which began proliferating rapidly in 2011, as a major issue for farmers.
