STATE NOTE. Results reflect the West Virginia General Summative Assessment, administered
to grades 3-8; data accessed 8/21/26. "Proficiency" means students who met or exceeded state standards (levels 3-4 of 4).
GRADES 3-8 ONLY. West Virginia also tests grade 11 on the SAT School Day. WVDE's own published district figures combine grades 3-8 with grade 11, so the rates here will differ WVDE's district-level results.
DISTRICT INCLUSION. Districts included in this figure are public non-charter regular school districts, as defined by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). A district's grade 3-8 proficiency rate is the state-reported grade 3-8 total where the state provided one, and otherwise aggregated across the grades with reported (non-suppressed) results; individual grades whose results were suppressed are omitted from the aggregation. Where the state reported a small count as a range (e.g., "0-9"), the midpoint of the range is used. Districts are displayed if at least 40 students were tested across their reported grades.
