Relief from extra property tax

Fresno developer Darius Assemi and his company, Granville Homes, won relief from the Fresno City Council from a special $164-per-year property tax assessment for each of the 71 homes he plans to build in east-central Fresno. The tax is intended to help provide money for police and fire services on the city's fringes.

As a result of City Council action on Oct. 5, 2023, only properties annexed into the city of Fresno after August 2020 will be subject to the extra tax assessment.
