extreme speeding convictions

From 2016 through 2020, some 650,000 drivers were charged with extreme speeding - going 20 mph or more over the limit. Statewide, about 8% of those drivers were found guilty as charged or guilty to a companion charge.

If a defendant was convicted on another charge related to the speeding case, reporters counted the extreme speeding charge as a conviction.
