Line graph. Partisans’ trust in the mass media when it comes to reporting the news fully, accurately, and fairly since 1972. The latest data, from a Sept. 1-16, 2022, poll finds that 70% of Democrats, 27% of independents and 14% of Republicans have a great deal or fair amount of trust in the mass media. Democrats have consistently exceeded Republicans by double digits in trust since 2001, and the gap has ranged between 54 and 63 points since 2017.
