Notes: the figure shows the projected wealth of the top 0.0001% wealthiest global households as a percentage of global GDP. We assume the real compound growth rate of the wealth of the top 0.0001% wealthiest households globally for 1987-2024 (ie, 7.1%). This is a conservative estimate since the real compound growth rate of the wealth of the top 0.0001% wealthiest households globally in the last 15 years (2010-24) was 7.9%. We assume a 3.5% growth rate for GDP (ie, the compound growth rate of GDP for 2010-24). See Appendix (b) for a detailed methodology on the calculation of the wealth of the top 0.0001%. All GDP data is from the World Bank and the External Wealth of Nations database.
