Views on the Number of Police

Nearly seven out of 10 Black Philadelphians said the city doesn't have enough police officers, the highest response among the racial and ethnic groups surveyed. The poll also showed that those more likely to say the city had enough or too many police officers were either younger, had annual income above $100,000, or held a college degree.

Black and white residents are those of non-Hispanic origin. Pew Charitable Trust poll conducted from Jan. 3-31, 2022 of 1,541 adult Philadelphia residents, with a margin of error of +/- 3.4 percentage points.
