N.J. Shore Protection Fund (FY1992-FY2024 appropriations)

Since 1992, New Jersey has set aside at least $15 million in its budget for the “Shore Protection Fund,” the bulk of which is used to replenish Jersey Shore beaches with sand. The most recent budget, FY2024, dedicated $50 million to the fund — the largest appropriation in the state's history, a spokesman for the New Jersey Treasury said. Beach replenishment on the New Jersey coast goes back to at least 1923.
