Together, the City of Chicago says 2020 revenues dropped by $886.6 million compared to their expectations earlier this year due to COVID-19's hit to the economy. Business taxes, which include charges on hotel stays, took the biggest plunge – roughly 74% – due to the drop in travel. Most others fell by about a third below projections.
