Piped water in Syria is priced at a fraction of a cent per cubic meter

Household drinking-water tariff by consumption tier per billing cycle. The four lowest tiers have not changed since 2014.

Prices per cubic meter, in new Syrian pounds: 1–5 m³: free 6–15 m³: 0.07 pounds (0.05 US cents) 16–25 m³: 0.15 pounds 26–35 m³: 0.22 pounds (0.16 US cents) These four tiers were last changed in August 2014. The higher tiers were raised in September 2023: 36–50 m³: 1.50 pounds 51–80 m³: 4 pounds 81–120 m³: 15 pounds above 120 m³: 30 pounds (about 22 US cents)

Note: Above 50 m³, the tier rate applies to the whole consumption in the billing cycle, not only to the amount over the threshold. Prices are converted from old to new Syrian pounds at 100:1, and to US dollars at SYP 138 per USD. Excludes fixed charges such as meter rent and sewage fees. No change to the household tariff has been identified since December 2024.
