Percent of COVID Cases Caused by Delta Variant

Estimates based on samples of virus genomes as of June 5

Variant proportions are based on representative CDC sequence data collected over a 4-week period ending June 5, 2021, for states with at least 300 sequences. Proportions are calculated using empirical (unweighted) data, which are subject to change over time. (Note: CDC data showed no proportion of Delta variant for Oregon and West Virginia. It's unclear if that's because data were lacking, or the measured proportion is 0.0%. For clarity, Mother Jones removed those states from this visualization.)
