Allegations about police received by Pittsburgh's Office of Municipal Investigations rose from 2017 through 2021, as compared to the prior five years. But complaints about use of force and conduct unbecoming toward the public dipped. The big increases occurred in regard to allegations of neglect of duty, bias or discrimination, conduct toward colleagues or supervisors, and a wide variety of other matters.
“Other” includes allegations related to traffic enforcement, inaccurate or incomplete reporting, receipt of bribes or gifts or gratuities, towing, arrests, domestic violence and handling of DV cases, body camera or vehicle camera usage, investigatory stops, miscellaneous procedures and other or unclear allegations.
