Percent Of Students Who Received A Failing Grade, By Family Income

This chart shows that low-income students already failed classes at higher rates than their middle- and upper-income peers before NTI in 2019. But during NTI in 2020, the gap grew.

Low-income status is defined by eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals. Grading data is from the same six-week time period in fall 2019 (before the pandemic) and fall 2020 (during NTI).
