Eligible for the Saver's Match, but locked out

Of 29.6 million income-eligible workers, 21 million lack a qualifying account to receive it

The Saver's Match is a federal matching contribution for eligible lower-income savers, beginning in 2027. A qualifying account (a 401(k)-type or IRA) is needed to receive it; defined-benefit pensions cannot receive the match. Counts in millions of workers; shares are of the income-eligible. Eligibility is approximated: SIPP income proxies AGI, filing status is the prior tax year, and statutory thresholds are applied unindexed to a 2024 population.
