You’d like to think Chicago Booth and Northwestern Kellogg would enjoy an advantage in MBA starting pay in their backyard. Keep dreaming! Like most regions, Stanford GSB grads arrived in the Midwest with the best packages at $191,286 on average. However, the GSB’s Midwest dominance is a bit of a misnomer. After all, just 7 grads from the Class of 2024 migrated to the Midwest. Even more, pay plummeted by nearly $47,000 from the previous year. In contrast, 119 Booth grads stayed in the Midwest after graduation – pulling in a runner-up’s $177,215 to start (including one grad making $400,000). Kellogg MBAs averaged $166,312 in 2024, with its largest paycheck reaching $250,000. The University of Michigan’s Ross School, another Midwest powerhouse, watched Midwest pay tumble from $166,966 to $157,829 against the previous year. Still, several Midwest MBA programs reported grads landing impressive individual paychecks: Indiana Kelley ($205,000), Minnesota Carlson ($195,000), Notre Dame Mendoza ($192,000), and Ohio State Fisher ($192,000).
