Hawaii Oil Imports By Country 2020-2024

The Aloha State relies on foreign oil from across the globe to help generate electricity. The largest share comes from Libya. Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, the state has imported more oil from South America. Argentina now ranks among the top importers to Hawaii and in the first three quarters of 2025 shipped more than 11 million barrels to the islands, which was more than any other country.

The countries included in this chart represent 92% of all crude oil imports into Hawaii for electricity generation from 2020-2024. Countries representing the remaining 8% include: Australia, South Korea, Algeria, Republic of Congo, Angola, Guyana, Gabon, Indonesia and Sudan. Full year data for 2025 was not available.
