Of the 46 people who donated at least $20 to the Steamboat Citizens for a Better Plan campaign, at least 44 owned real estate in Routt County, according to property records. Over the last decade, as Steamboat (and other mountain towns) have built few new housing units and rents have soared, the combined value of these donors' real property assets has more than doubled, for an average gain of over $1.5 million.
