Growth in student enrolment and certificated school staff in Alberta since 2016-17

Student enrolment and full-time-equivalent (FTE) certificated staff in public, separate, charter and Francophone schools.

2016-17 was taken as the base school year as it's the oldest available via Alberta Open Data on enrolment.

Teaching staff figures come from budget documents, which run on the Government of Alberta's fiscal years (ending March 31), while enrolment figures represent school years.

Charter school enrolment (which accounts for less than 2% of total enrolment) was included in these calculations because the teaching staff numbers include charter schools.
