Vanderbilt University commuting emissions continue to fall, air travel emissions back on the rise

Vanderbilt University saw a 89% reduction in commuting emissions in comparison to 2016 levels. Meanwhile, air travel emissions emissions saw an increase in comparison to pandemic induced travel restriction levels; 2022-2023 fiscal year air travel emissions still amount to less than pre-pandemic levels.

Columns showing commuting emissions are colored in green while air travel emissions are colored in purple. Commuting emissions have decreased fairly steadily since 2016, while air travel emissions saw increases until the start COVID-19 pandemic. Air travel emissions to to be on the rise again since the pandemic but are much lower than pre-pandemic years.
