US carbon capture and storage in operation in 2023
The U.S. had 15 facilities with carbon capture and store operations as of 2023. All but two send their captured carbon for use in enhanced oil recovery (EOR). Marker sizes reflect capacity, with the largest at 7 million tons of CO2 per year.
