The racial homeownership gap in the Twin Cities is rising

In Hennepin and Ramsey Counties, the share of Black families that own a home has declined from 31 percent in 2000 to 21 percent in 2018.

Analysis of U.S. Census data from 2000, 2010 and 2018 in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties. White and Black families exclude those who classify themselves as Hispanic or Latino in census responses. Trends for Asian and Native American households were not measured because of inadequate data.
