Comparison of Fall-to-Fall Retention Rates of AA or AS Degree-Seeking Students with and without Prior Off-Campus Dual Enrollment Credits
This grouped bar chart compares fall-to-fall retention rates for AA or AS degree-seeking students at Chipola College across three cohorts (Fall 2021, 2022, and 2023), categorized by prior dual enrollment (DE) experience. Students are grouped as: those with prior DE credits (orange), those without DE credits (dark blue), and all non-graduating students combined (tan).
Students with prior DE credits consistently demonstrate higher retention rates, ranging from 67% to 75% across cohorts. Those without DE credits show more variable performance, from 60% to 73%. The Fall 2022 cohort exhibits the largest retention gap (14 percentage points) between DE and non-DE students (74% vs. 60%). The most recent Fall 2023 cohort shows strong convergence, with all three groups achieving 73-75% retention rates, suggesting improved overall retention regardless of DE background. This convergence may indicate increasingly effective institutional support strategies benefiting all student populations.
