2023 MBA Pay: Media & Entertainment

You don’t enter the arts to draw a big paycheck – and 2023 average pay for MBA graduates proves it! Last year’s highest earners didn’t come from Stanford GSB. In 2023, they only placed three students in the field – and didn’t bother to publish their pay. Instead, the top honor belongs to MIT Sloan, where average pay was $190,000. However, this number was skewed by just 4 Sloan grads moving into Media & Entertainment – and one of them landing a massive $310,000 payday. While New York City – home to Broadway and the legacy media -- includes NYU Stern and Columbia Business School, just 12 graduates combined chose jobs in the field. Not surprisingly, Los Angeles programs fared better in Media & Entertainment. UCLA Anderson and USC Marshall produced 18 and 12 hires in the field respectively, though grads from both schools averaged $125,000-$130,000 offers. At the same time, just 7 business schools reported pay in the field – and none were ranked lower than 20th.
