Preliminary data shows Tampa Bay region sustained record storm surge during Hurricane Helene

All eight of the tidal gauges in a valid tidal area across the Tampa Bay region recorded peak water levels during Hurricane Helene that surpass previously held records.

Notes: Values for the tidal gauges operated by NOAA were analyzed using the measurement of MHHW, or mean higher high water. The values for the gauges operated by the USGS were compared using "gage height per feet."
