Depression reported among metro-east students

The following bars show the percentages of students in eighth, 10th and 12th grades who responded to a state survey saying they experienced depression in the past 12 months.

The survey defined depression as "feeling so sad or hopeless almost every day for two weeks or more in a row that you stopped doing some usual activities." 2,905 students from 10 Madison County schools and 762 students from nine St. Clair County schools responded.
