Our definition of nationality is at the country level and not the jurisdiction level (eg, a member of Hong Kong is a Chinese national). See Appendix (c) for more information. We are missing between 5% and 35% of the world’s billionaire households between 2002 and 2009. The citizenship and residence country are assumed to be the same for the small amount of billionaires whose country of residence is unknown (less than 1%).
