Groundwater extracted from the San Luis Obispo Valley basin has historically always exceeded sustainable yield

This chart shows the amount of groundwater estimated to be extracted from the San Luis Obispo Valley basin annually. It also shows whether the basin saw a net gain or loss in groundwater in storage due to whether the basin received (mainly through rainfall) more water than was extracted. The sustainable yield of the groundwater basin is estimated to be 5,800 acre-feet per year.
