High-speed rail ridership projections on the decline

The latest preliminary projections of future annual high-speed rail ridership are down from pre-COVID pandemic estimates for the San Joaquin Valley, as well as potential service to Silicon Valley and San Francisco-Los Angeles/Anaheim.

Merced-Bakersfield would be the first operational segment of the system, followed by Silicon Valley-to-San Joaquin Valley and San Francisco-Los Angeles/Anaheim.
