The chart below shows the total number of runoff elections in each state between 2018 and 2024. Each column is broken down into runoffs in which the candidate receiving the most votes in the primary also won the runoff election (same winner) and runoffs in which the candidate receiving the most votes in the primary lost the runoff election (flip).
