The Orlando Sentinel obtained this data using IPUMS, which collects and analyzes U.S. Census microdata. The Sentinel used U.S. Census decennial samples from 1960-2000, though no samples were available within the parameters for 1970 or from 2001-2004. From 2005 to 2018, the Sentinel used one-year samples from the American Community Survey (ACS).
