On June 22, 2017, 94 countries voted in favour, 15 against and 65 abstained on the UNGA resolution that requested ICJ to render an advisory opinion on the legal consequences arising from the separation of the Chagos Archipelago from Mauritius before independence of the Indian Ocean island nation.
