County Economic Vitality Index

Economic performance indicators for all 100 North Carolina counties, 2024. These four variables are benchmarked against US averages to produce component indices (unemployment, wage, income, education) that combine into an equal-weighted composite score where US = 100.

Source: Unemployment rates are annual averages, not seasonally adjusted (BLS LAUS). Wages are private sector annual averages (BLS QCEW). Income is median household income (Census SAIPE).
