Number of patients waiting at month end for treatment: NHS Scotland

Figures to 31 March 2022, published 31 May. An outpatient is a patient who attends a consultant or other medical clinic. Outpatients are not admitted to a hospital and do not use a hospital bed. Inpatients refer to people who are admitted to an available staffed bed in a hospital (either electively or as an emergency) and either: remain overnight or are expected to remain overnight but are discharged earlier.
