Race of Supreme Court Law Clerks, 1980-2020

A study titled, "Some Are More Equal Than Others: U.S. Supreme Court Clerkships," identified the race of 1,424 Supreme Court law clerks from 1980 to 2020.

Methodology: "We determined the clerk’s ethnicity... through the U.S. Census, based on its ethnicity composition based on last names… We imputed a particular ethnicity if the fraction of the population exceeded 75%. If it fell below this cut-off, we determined ethnicity based on any self-identification by the clerks in their online or print biographies."
