This map shows the change in the average margin of victory for a sample of school board incumbents who sought re-election in 2024 compared with their most recent previous election. The 2024 values include the winning margins of both incumbents who were re-elected and challengers who defeated incumbents, while the previous election values reflect only the incumbents’ margins from their last victories. The state with the largest increase was Oklahoma (+14.25 percentage points), and the state with the largest decrease was Virginia (−12.09 percentage points).
