Fewer abortions, more maternal deaths

Maternal deaths in the US reached its historical high. There were 23.8 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2020.

For maternal deaths, the 2010-2017 numbers show deaths while pregnant or within one year after pregnancy; the 2018-2020 data shows deaths while pregnant or within 42 days after pregnancy.
