Crime trends are largely down in the last 20 years

A set of eight line charts shows Toronto has seen a general downward trend in select crimes per capita in the last two decades, between 2005 and 2024. Assaults, auto thefts, break and enters, homicides, robberies, and the number of shooting victims are all down between 9 and 55 per cent. Major thefts are at about the same level as 2005. Sexual assaults are up 43 per cent.
