Nearly half a million Massachusetts households receive SNAP benefits in 2023

About 15% of Massachusetts households received SNAP benefits in 2023, compared with 13% of households nationwide. In Hampden County, one in four households receive SNAP benefits, the highest proportion of any county in Massachusetts.
