Optimism about children's future dips

A new NORC poll finds about 4 in 10 Americans expect their children to have a better standard of living than they do, the lowest share saying so since the question was first asked on the 1994 General Social Survey.

The nationwide poll was conducted from May 21 to 29, 2020 using AmeriSpeak — the probability-based panel of NORC at the University of Chicago. A total of 2,279 adults completed the survey either online or using landlines or cell phones. The margin of sampling error is +/- 2.9 percentage points.
